RE: My 6.0L gasser doesn't seem to be up for the task

No you didn't miss it. He is pulling a TT. I didn't miss it either. The point is that the truck should be able to pull his TT better than it is. Prior to getting my fiver I had a TT that weighed about 8500lbs. Pulled it with the same truck with no problems.

RE: My 6.0L gasser doesn't seem to be up for the task

Just to add my $.02 worth. I pull a 08 Jayco Eagle 31.5FBHS with an 03 chevy 2500hd 6.0. The fiver weighs about 10500lbs. I have been all over Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia. We cruse down the interstate at 70mph with no problems. I think you will be alright if you change your tires.

RE: Receiver Hitch On 2008 Jayco Eagle Superlite

Thanks everyone for all the response. I emailed my dealer and asked them the same question. They recomended that I purchase a platform style rack from them for about $200.00. I also emailed Jayco and asked them. Here is their response
Thank you for contacting Jayco Customer Service.
Jayco does not recommend adding anything to the rear bumper or frame of your Jayco unit. Please see page 29 of your owner's manual.
Sincerely,
Geneva Miller
Customer Service Specialist
So the dealer said to come and buy a rack from them and Jayco said don't do anything to the bumper or the frame. After looking at the bumper and where it is attached to the frame I think I'm going to drill a couple of holes threw where the bumper attaches to the frame and put some bolts in them. Then I'm going to get the platform rack that attaches to the bumper and see how much flex there is, and then make a decision on weather I will leave it or try something else.

RE: Receiver Hitch On 2008 Jayco Eagle Superlite

Virgil that things looks really neat and easy, but will the bumper handle the weight of the rack and four bikes?

Receiver Hitch On 2008 Jayco Eagle Superlite

Has anyone out there ever installed a receiver hitch on their Eagle Superlite. If so what brand did you use? Did you do it yourself or get someone to do it for you? I need to be able to carry four bikes and this is the only way I think I can do this. I looked at the bike racks that attach to the bumper but from what I read that is an accident wating to happen.Thank!

RE: Jayco Eagle Super Lite 31.5FBHS

We have the 2008 FBHS model. We love it! Have not had any serious problems, just the normal loose water pipe and so forth. I would advise that you get a kingpin stabalizer, especially if you are putting kids in the front. With the kids in the front and the master bedroom in the rear there tends to be some movement. Otherwise Jayco makes a very good RV.

RE: Spring Mount Issue (Jayco Super Lite)

Well, I'm no expert by any means, but here is my $.02 worth. It does not appear to be any big deal for the short term. If it was me I would put the bolts in like you were talking about, go and have a good time for the rest of the season, then let them fix it.

RE: Slide out problem

The unit did not come with a manual handle. There is a procedure in the book where you have to take off an access panel and use a wrench. The unit is only 10 months old so it shouldn't be the battery, plus I have it hooked up to a power supply.

Slide out problem

Last night was packing up and cleaning up the 5er because we are suppose to leave tomorrow for the Labor Day weekend trip. Went to let out the bedroom slide and all it would do is pop like it does when you bring it in and the slip-clutch kicks in. I thought it might have something wedged in it or that it just needed a little push, but none of that worked. Don't have time to get it to the dealer before we are suppose to leave. Anyone got any ideas? At lunch I'm going to try the manual rout and see it that will just break it loose enough to get it working. Have any of you had this happen if so is there a quick fix?

We have the 31.5 FBHS Eagle Superlite. We purchased it back in November and love it. We have had no mechanical problem. I think you will be very happy with any Jayco products.

RE: How many tow with GM 6L gasser?

If you tow with a Chev/GMC 6L gas engine:
1) How much weight do you tow?
10500
2) Do you tow mainly on flat ground or also over mountain passes?
Mainly flat but went to Newport TN Two weeks ago
3) If steep hills, is that engine adequate?
For the "steep" hills around here yes.
4) What mileage do you get towing?
I got 9.5 going to TN
5) What mileage when not towing?
About 14

RE: Gun on trailer?

My opinion on the subject is this. It is better to be tried by 12 than carried by six. Have you ever seen anyone's RV searched by the police? I'm not an attorney but I believe it would take a search warrant to get in your RV. So I say go for it.

RE: 600+ RV'S in one campground.

Don't know how "they" judge it. I am only putting down what was in the Alapark booklet that I picked up when we checked in. Is Jordan Lake a state run park?

600+ RV'S in one campground.

Went this past weekend to Wind Creek State Park here in Alabama. This is the largest state run campground in the United States. They have over 600 sites and it was full. It was very entertaining to watch all the people and their rigs. I saw everything from $500,000 RV's to some that I hope they didn't pay much more than $5.00 for. I even saw one guy pulling a 30ft TT with a Dodge Dakota. His front jacks couldn't have been more than 3 inches off the ground. The most interesting thing to watch was Monday when 500 of the 600+ decided it was time to go home. I must give the employees at Wind Creek very high praise. They did an exceptional job of maintaining the park and keeping the masses under control. At 10:00pm when the quiet hours kicked in they were out there enforcing it. If your ever in Alabama and need a good place to stay this is it.
